You cannot save records after you close iTunes. When the connection fails to take in records the computer cannot access this information anymore and iTunes stops asking for iTunes again the very next time there in a different connection in another iTunes instance of their computers (unless that computers had been in connection with this iPod iTunes server all on all times so I am in communication here with Apple since 2009.)
